Today In NHL History - Elias Pettersson Saves Goal

On November 21st in 2022, Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson made a spectacular save to prevent the Vegas Golden Knights from scoring an empty net goal with 53 seconds remaining in regulation time.

As the lone skater back with the goaltender on the bench, Pettersson stared down Jack Eichel then perfectly read the cross-ice pass sliding to his left and extending his leg to block Jonathan Marchessault's shot.

Despite holding a 4-2 lead early in the third period, the Canucks surrendered three unanswered goals and ultimately lost 5-4 to Vegas.

That's today in NHL history.
